theBalm Nude ‘tude v. Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette (Review + Swatches)

in Eyes, Makeup on 08/26/15

Happy Hump Day, beauties! It’s no secret that I’ve got a serious addiction to eyeshadow palettes. There’s just something so tempting about a gorgeous set of shadows. So, when theBalm released a spinoff of their famous Nude ‘tude Palette, I knew I had to try it.  Nude ‘tude has been in my beauty arsenal for years, so I couldn’t wait to compare it to Nude Dude!

PURCHASED BY ME/AFFILIATE LINKS

theBalm Eyeshadow Palettes

Each palette retails for $36 and can be purchased online at thebalm.com. They come with 12 neutral shades, and feature a mixture of matte, satin, and shimmery finishes. The palettes are sleek, great for travel, and include a large mirror, and a miniature double-ended eyeshadow brush.

The Balm Nude 'tude Eyeshadow Palette

First up, is the palette that started it all – the Nude ‘tude. This palette features 12 easy to wear shades that range from soft yellow, to rich burgundy. All of the lighter shades are easy to swatch, creamy, and feature wonderful color payoff, while the darker shades are a bit drier (though still very pigmented).

The Balm Nude 'tude Eyeshadow Palette

Sassy, Stubborn & Selfish

Sassy is a creamy white satin with great pigmentation. It works really well as an inner corner, or brow bone highlight.

Stubborn is a soft seashell pink with light (but buildable) pigmentation. I love this all over the lids for a natural daytime look.

Selfish is a creamy taupe with excellent color payoff. This is a great lid shade!

The Balm Nude 'tude Eyeshadow Palette

The Balm Nude 'tude Eyeshadow Swatches

Sophisticated, Sexy & Serious

Sophisticated is a warm brown with tiny golden shimmer. It’s nicely pigmented, and great for the outer corner.

Sexy is a rich matte burgundy with a smooth texture. It has wonderful pigmentation, and it works well all over the lid or in the outer corner.

Serious is a deep black with tiny pink shimmers, though they blend away completely once on the lids. The texture is drier than the others, but the pigmentation is nice, and it’s easy to work.

Snobby, Stand-offish & Sultry

Snobby is a soft yellow with a creamy texture, and light color payoff. It’s a great highlight or all over lid shade.

Stand-offish is a satin champagne pink that has a really creamy texture and amazing color payoff. It’s my absolute favorite shade in this palette!

Sultry is a soft matte brown with a smooth texture. It has buildable pigmentation, and works well as a crease or transition shade.

Seductive, Silly & Sleek

Seductive is a bronzy gold with a smooth texture and great color payoff. It’s a great lid shade!

Silly is a darkened plum with pink shimmers. It’s not the most pigmented when swatched, but it works well when packed onto the outer corner. Like Serious, the shimmer disappears once blended.

Sleek is a rich brown that has a dry texture. It’s nicely pigmented though, and it’s great for darkening the outer corner.

Nude Dude

theBalm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette

Now let’s move on to the most recent Nude release – Nude Dude! This palette also features 12 easy to wear shades, that range from light beige to warm rosy brown. Every shade features a creamy texture, easy to work with pigmentation, and they don’t leave behind a lot of fallout.

theBalm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette

Fearless, Flawless & Firm

Fearless is a soft creamy beige that works wonderful as a blending shade.

Flawless is a soft brown with buildable pigmentation. It works great as a crease, or transition shade.

Firm is a smooth light bronze that looks beautiful all over the lids!

Flirty, Friendly & Fierce

Flirty is a rosy pink with a creamy texture and great color payoff, it’s so beautiful all over the lids!

Friendly is a deep eggplant purple with intense pigmentation, it’s great for the outer corner.

Fierce is a satin black with tiny silver shimmers. It’s not the darkest black, but it’s nice for the outer corner.

Fabulous, Faithful & Fit

Fabulous is a creamy white that is very similar to Sassy from the Nude ‘tude palette. It has a creamy texture, and also works well as a highlight or brown bone shade.

Faithful is a soft gold that has a slight resemblence to Snobby, though it’s more of a satin finish (and it’s not as yellow). It works great all over the lids, and has nice color payoff.

Fit is a rose gold that has a great texture and great pigmentation. It’s a stunning lid shade!

Fiesty, Funny & Fine

Fiesty is a matte rosy brown with a creamy texture. It works beautifully in the crease, or as a transition shade.

Funny is a creamy warm brown with reddish undertones. It’s an excellent crease shade!

Fine is an intense darkened purple that works great in the outer corner. It’s slightly drier than the others, but it works well on the lids.

Overall thoughts…

theBalm Eyeshadow Palette

I absolutely love these palettes! Both are them offer stunning neutrals, and only one shade is similar (Fabulous and Sassy). With the Nude ‘tude you’ll get more traditional neutrals like soft pink, warm brown, and taupe. With the Nude Dude, you get warmer more rose toned shades. Each palette features creamy textures that are easy to work with, though the Nude Dude has less drier shades than the Nude ‘tude. Either way, I think both palettes are an excellent addition to any makeup collection!

But, if I had to choose just one, I would choose….Nude Dude! The mixture of golden and rosy shadows is unlike another other palette I own. Plus, the textures of the darker shades are smoother and creamier!

Do you own any of theBalm palettes? Which one is your favorite?

Beautiful swatches! They shadows look so buttery soft. I had the Nude-Tude palette for a while, but just recently gave it to my mom. I enjoyed using it while I owned it. Maybe I’ll purchase the Nude-Dude to replace it… 🙂

I got one of the bronze shades as a single in an ipsy bag and it is stunning. I definitely need one of these two, just can’t decide which one. Maybe Nude’Dude coz it’s a little cooler maybe. Well one of these days, I’ll get one

You can’t go wrong with either one, but I do think the shadows in Nude Dude are a tad bit more unique!

I have quite a few palettes by theBalm but ended up giving my DIL Nude Tude since she was looking for something like it. Now I was I’d kept it! Keep your eye out on Hautelook since they often have theBalm.

Nude Dude is calling my name! Nude’tude is one of my favorite palettes, but mostly just for two of the shades (Standoffish and Sultry). I think I’d actually use most of the Nude Dude palette. 😉

    • Collective Beauty says

      08/27/2015 at 8:28 PM

That’s why I like Nude Dude more as well, all the shades are so wearable for everyday. I adore stand-offish from Nude Tude – it’s the only shade I hit pan on in my last palette!

I love theBalm, but I don’t have any of their shadows/palettes. I might have to change that after seeing these swatches though. I thought I had enough nude palettes, but hey I can admit when I’m wrong lol. Those swatches!!!

    • Collective Beauty says

      08/27/2015 at 8:29 PM

There are never enough nude palettes! lol These shades are super creamy, I think you’ll love them!

I only have a couple of theBalm shadows that came in monthly subscription boxes and I love them both. I really could see myself using these a lot. All the colors look very wearable even for my fair skin.

I am sad to say I have probably used my Nude Tude palette 5x or less… so I do not think that I would get the Nudedude knowing I may not use it.

    • Collective Beauty says

      08/27/2015 at 8:31 PM

Totally understandable! I go in phases, I’ll use it for weeks, then ignore it for months. Too many palettes, too little time 😉 lol

Idk if I would still want to purchase the Nude Dude, since I have a Morphe 35T palette, which is more on the rose gold color scheme, but I really want the Nude Tude, is it worth it?
