Happy Friday! Can you believe it’s already May?! Next month is my 31st birthday…but we can pretend I’m still 25 😆 For today’s look, I thought it would be fun to do a dark smokey eye featuring some green and gold. This look is out of my neutral eye comfort zone, but since I have so many sultry shadows in my collection, I figured it was about time I give them some love.
FACE:
- Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Primer
- Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream in Light to Medium
- NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard
- Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder in Naked Medium Light
- Makeup For Ever Mist + Fix
EYES/BROWS:
- Tarte Amazonian Clay Volumizing Brow Powder in Rich Brown
- Anastasia Clear Brow Gel
- LORAC Behind The Scenes eye primer
- Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded
- LORAC Pro 2 Palette
- Makeup For Ever Aqua Eyes liner in 0L (black)
- Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara
- YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils mascara (bottom lashes)
- House of Lashes Dollface Lashes
CHEEKS:
- Tarte Park Ave Princess bronzer
- Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Unleashed (Rainforest After Dark palette)
- Tarte Champagne highlight (Rainforest After Dark Palette)
LIPS:
- MAC Staunchly Stylish Pro Longwear lip liner
- YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in #8
- MAC Lipglass in Florabundance
EYES…First, I primed my lids then applied a sparkly nude Maybelline Color Tattoo. Next, I reached for the LORAC Pro 2 palette placing Jade on the lid, Lt. Brown in crease, Black in the outer v and then I used Buff to blend out the edges. When you’re working with dark shadows, blending is crucial. Blend, blend, blend until you feel like your arm is going to fall off 😉
I lined my upper lash line and water line with a black liner from Makeup For Ever, then applied some falsies from House of Lashes. They cost just $7, and the quality is great. Plus, you can use the code SPRINGFLING15 for 15% off your entire order!
The finishing touch on this look was dabbing a tiny bit of Rose to the center of my lid. I used my fingertip to do it, making sure to concentrate only on the center. This creates a brightening effect, and helps to give some dimension to the look.
FACE…After priming, I applied my go-to Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream and then concealed under my eyes with the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I set it all with my Urban Decay Naked Skin Setting Powder, then spritzed my face with the gorgeous smelling Mist + Fix from Makeup For Ever.
CHEEKS…I used all three cheek products from the Tarte Rainforest After Dark today. This palette was limited edition, but the Park Ave Princess bronzer is in the permeant line up.
LIPS…Since my eyes are so dark and smokey, I went with a nude lip. First I lined them with MAC Staunchly Stylish (the PERFECT nude liner!), then applied a YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in #8, and lightened it with MAC Florabundance Lipglass. The result is shiny, and a tad sticky, so it lasts quite a while.
I hope you enjoyed today’s smokey eye, be sure to let me know what’s on your face today!

Gorgeous!! I don’t know what I love more-your skin (it looks fantastic) or your smokey eyes! You are looking beautiful!!!
Aw, you are too kind thank you!! 🙂
I have so many darker shadows I never use, I feel bad for them! No one in my office wears make up, so if I wear a darker eye or something a little out there I feel like I look silly. Going out to dinner tomorrow night, so I’ll pull some sexy shades out for that!
I know I feel so bad that my darker shades are so neglected! lol I’m sure you’ll create a great look! 🙂
Love this smokey eye! And it complements your eyes beautifully! The lashes are gorgeous! x

Thank you! I’m obsessed with these lashes too, they are so affordable and so glamorous! 🙂
Absolutely beautiful and the lip shade is just perfect x
Thank you! 🙂
Julie, I love this look on you! Jade is stunning!
I know, I can’t believe I had never reached for it until now!
Haha, I totally pulled out the same palette today, did a look, decided I hated it, took it all off and did a new one with a different palette! I love your look, definitely going to try this!
That was me that week, I did an entire look with purples and hated it, so I took it off and started over. What a process that was! lol This look would look great on you! 🙂
Girl, you don’t look a day over 20! And you seriously have the most perfect eye shape! I like the darker look on you, the gold accent really does brighten it up so it doesn’t look too night time-ish. Perfecto!
Aw, thank you Kristina! Here’s to always looking like we’re in our 20s 😉 lol I added more rose to the center of my lid after I took photos, and it brightened it up even more, so it’s a good trick to make the shadows look less intense!
This looks is beautiful on you, so you should wear smokey eyes more often! I was wearing Mac Taupe over the lid with ColourPop in a pickle in a crease and darkened outer corners of my eyes. It turned out pretty nice although I didn’t even leave the house!
Have a great weekend Julie!
Thank you! 🙂 Your look sounds gorgeous! I have such a hard time working with ColourPop shadows, they don’t blend very nicely for me. Any tricks you have? Have a great weekend too!
So glam look <3 I need to show some more love to my Lorac palette xx

Thank you! 🙂
Those false eyelashes look stunning on you, I wish I knew how to apply them properly!

Thank you! Lashes are definitely something that takes practice! I do suggest half lashes for beginners though, they are easier to apply, but they still add drama to the eyes 🙂
I love this! It’s a really pretty smokey eye, and because of all of the colors blended together, it doesn’t look as harsh as it would have if you’d just used black. I’ll have to try this next time I go out! (Also, I hope I look as good as you do when I enter my 30s! You look like you’re only a few years older than me!)
Aw, thank you! I’ve looked young my entire life, was even carded to see rated R movies until I was 26 haha I’m glad you like the look, I’m sure it will look stunning on you! 🙂
OMg your makeup looks stunning, your eyes… OMG beautiful! I’ve just ordered the lorac pro 1 palette now, think I’ll be ordering the second one too x
Thank you! 🙂 I actually don’t own the 1, but it looks stunning, I’m thinking I’ll have to get it one day as well!
Beautiful look (as always)! I’ve been eying the Makeup For Ever Aqua Eyes liner. How do you think it compares to the other gel pot style liners?
The MUFE liner I have is actually just a pencil liner, and it’s okay. It’s a tiny sample I got with last years VIB birthday gift (it came with a MUFE lipstick too). It takes a bit of pressure to really apply it, so I won’t be getting a full size. But, it doesn’t smudge so that I appreciate. My favorite gel liners are from MAC, they are better than the Bobbi Brown, Smashbox and Sigma pot liners I’ve tried!
I really like the lashes you used! They go really well with the smokey eye and give it a bit of edge. You look great!
