Shortlist Skincare – 4 Week Update

in Beauty, Skin on 07/28/17

I’m sharing #Shortlist in my life as part of a Shortlist sponsored series for Socialstars™ #lessismore

Hey beauties! Last month I introduced you all to Shortlist, a revolutionary line dedicated to producing effective skin care with simple ingredients. I’ve been using these products every day for the past month, and cannot wait to share my experience with you all!

Shortlist Skincare

SHORTLIST SERUM

This lightweight serum ($34/ 1 fl oz) is formulated with Niacinamide, Glycerin, and Hyaluronic acid, to keep skin looking young and hydrated. It can be used on all skin types, and is free of harsh ingredients like parabens, sulfates, fragrance, and colorants.

Shortlist Skincare

Serums are a great way to moisturize, because they penetrate deep into skins surface to deliver intense hydration. This gentle formula has a silky texture, and unlike other serums, it leaves behind zero residue or stickiness.

HOW I USE IT…

Once my skin has been cleansed, I apply two pumps of the Shortlist serum to my cheeks, chin, and forehead. Application tip: Pat, don’t rub, serum into skin!

Shortlist Skincare

The thin texture of this serum soaks into my skin immediately, and leaves it feeling ultra soft. In fact, this baby is so hydrating, I can probably skip a moisturizer, though I don’t suggest it 😉  Once applied, I wait a few minutes, then complete my routine with the Smoothing Cream.

FUN FACT: In addition to its ability to hydrate and strengthen, this serum also helps prep the skin for the Smoothing Cream!

SMOOTHING CREAM

The Smoothing Cream ($34/ 1.7 fl oz) works together with the serum, to repair damage, and prevent the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It formulated with Retinyl propionate, to fight aging, as well as and Glycerin to increase hydration.

Shortlist Skincare

HOW I USE IT…

Once my skin has been cleansed, and prepped (with the serum), I then apply a small amount of Smoothing Cream. This creamy moisturizer has a rich velvety feel, so a little goes a long way.  Avoiding my eye area, I gently rub this cream onto my entire face, as well as my neck.

Shortlist Skincare

Like the serum, the Smoothing Cream soaks into skin easily, leaving behind an ultra smooth complexion. It’s not heavy or greasy, and it’s gentle on my sensitive skin (no stinging or burning). It does contain a form of retinol though, so I always make sure to apply a separate SPF in the AM!

AFTER 4 WEEKS OF USE

Before starting this routine, I struggled with intense redness and bumps on the right side of my face. One dermatologist called it Rosacia, while another called it Keratosis Pilaris. Either way, it was maddening and tough to get rid of. The photos below are makeup free, and you can really see the difference!

Shortlist Skincare

After a month of use, my problem area is no longer itchy, and a lot of the redness has been calmed. In addition, my bumps are fading, and there has been a reduction in white heads.

Shortlist Skincare

Since it take up to 8 weeks for a skin care routine to truly take effect, I’ll be checking in again next month for another update! In the meantime, you can learn more about Shortlist, and shop these products, on their website.

Do you want to simplify your skin care routine? I’d love to know!

So do you think that your skin had an initial reaction to the skincare products and then settled down as it got used to it? Or do you think you might have had the skin issue anyway, and Shortlist helped your skin overcome it? Very interesting to hear about it. Your skin looks beautiful and healthy now.

The June photo was taken one day before starting Shortlist, so the redness and bumps were pre-existing. It all started a few months into my second pregnancy, and lasted through 14 months of nursing. I have no idea what caused it, but as you can see, this duo have helped it so much!

Sounds very hydrating! I want to simplify my routine, but since I’m undergoing scar revision, I’m stuck with a particular set of products for now.
