Modern Renaissance Winter Berry Eyeshadow Look

in Looks & Hauls, Makeup on 01/31/17

Once upon a time, burnt orange, venetian red, and red ochre were not shades you would think to apply to your lids. But, thanks to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, warm berry hues are all the rage – and I’m loving it!

PURCHASED BY ME/AFFILIATE LINKS

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

I mentioned in my last Face of the Day, that pinks can be hard to pull off (and even make you look sick). Thankfully, these richly pigmented shadows are paired with flattering shades of taupe, gold, and bronze, to help you create a modern look that’s wearable yet edgy. Admittedly, this is very similar to the L’Oreal eye I recently featured, but what can I say I’m a creature of habit 😉

THE LOOK

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

EYES…I always start with the eyes, so first I applied a base from Maybelline. Then, I topped it with a Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chrome in Gilded Rose. This creamy liquid shadow is the perfect metallic base. From the Modern Renaissance Palette, I applied Vermeer all over the lid, Buon Fresco above my crease, Antique Bronze to the second half of my lid, and then used Venetian red to blend the two lid shades together.

The one shade the Modern Renaissance palette is missing, is a black. So, for that I reached for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna Palette. Using the shade Noir, I carefully darkened my outer corner. I lined my upper lash line with the L’Oreal Voluminous Liner Noir Liquid Liner (soooo nice!), and created a small wing. Next, I lined my waterline, then applied mascara to my top and bottom lashes before applying a pair of falsies from Luxy Lash.

FACE…One of my favorite full coverage foundations, is the BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme. The shade I have a bit too yellow (buff), but the coverage is great for photography because it hides everything. For my under eyes, I concealed with my trusty NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (custard), and set everything with the Kat Von D Lock It Translucent Powder.

CHEEKS…I usually keep things a bit more simple when it comes to my cheeks, but today I went ham and grabbed everything in sight. First, I started off with the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder (super pigmented so use a a light hand). Then, I bronzed with the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, and added a pop of pink with BECCA Camellia. Lastly, I highlighted my cheekbones with Jouer Rose Quartz.

LIPS…Another day, another nude lip. In case you’re new around here, I pretty much only rock nude pink lips. The combo today is a Bite Beauty Lipstick topped with a MAC Lipglass. Simple, natural, and easy to wear!

So pretty! Vermeer (I think that’s the one) gives the eyes such a cool bright highlighted look that is so different from what I expected from this warm palette – Wonderful

I’d never guess that you used red on your eyes with this look. It’s so beautiful. You were bold in your makeup choices but it’s not a bold look.

Thanks! Sadly, the camera really washes out the color, so it was a bit more red toned in person. I’m glad you liked it 🙂

I was thinking a deep brown shade would have been nice in this palette (I tend to match pinks with dark brown.) Love the look and I’m thinking I need that lipstick shade- it’s gorgeous!

I’m still debating if I ‘need’ this palette, lol! I was waiting for the hype to die down to see if I still will be drawn to it but I keep thinking of it 🙂

    Beautiful look! x
