The latest trend to hit the beauty world by storm, is luminous foundation. Brands everywhere are releasing lightweight formulas that promise to cover, while also delivering hydration. So, when a box of the new PÜR Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation arrived at my door, I was super excited to give it a try. I have dry skin, so something like this pretty much my beauty BFF!
This water based foundation retails for $39 (0.1 oz) at purcosmetics.com, and will be launching at Kohl’s and ULTA nationwide on February 7th. It comes in five shades, and is formulated to help smooth, firm, and lift skin’s appearance. It contains the purest water sourced from the Swiss Alps, Vitamin E, and Ceretin Complex.
HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation is incomparably lightweight, yet offers the perfect amount of coverage, and satisfies the desire for dewy, breathable, luminous-looking skin.” PÜR Cosmetics
The packaging of this foundation is really nice. It comes in a convenient squeeze tube, with a clear window so you can see the shade. Unfortunately, the actual shade names are not written on the tubes. So, if you have more than one it gets really confusing really fast. It can also be tough to remember which shade you bought, so I suggest keeping the box or writing it down to avoid any mishaps when you go to repurchase.
The instructions say to apply 2-3 drops using the Pur Liquid Chisel Brush. I don’t own that brush, so instead I used a synthetic flat top kabuki, and the results were beautiful. As expected, the texture is thin and liquidy, but it still manages to apply easily and blend nicely.
Depending on how much you apply, the coverage is light to medium. It easily conceals redness and blemishes, but freckles still come through. I needed a bit more than 2-3 drops (more like 2-3 on each side), but it still felt like nothing on the skin.

The shade range is limited, and since light was a little too light, and medium was a little too dark, I mixed them together to make the perfect shade. However, I have heard several porcelain skin friends say that Light was not light enough, so if you’re really fair I would keep in mind.
As far as the finish goes, it definitely delivers on its promises. It leaves my face looking dewy and hydrated, like real skin, not skin loaded up with foundation. It sets nicely, doesn’t transfer, and it lasts all day without turning splotchy. If you’re not into luminous foundations, you can powder this for a calmed down effect, but the finish is really pretty on its own (not greasy or shiny).
If you’re looking to try the new 2016 trend of luminous glowing skin, and you’re in need of a hydration boost, I suggest looking into PÜR HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation. The shades can be tricky, but if you’re around my skin tone, and you’re rocking a “winter” complexion (aka you’re really pale right now), I would go with Light. If you’re really not sure, then head over to ULTA next week and swatch them for yourself!
Are you digging the new luminous foundation trend? I’d love to know!

I felt the same way with the shades. It isn’t hydrating enough for me but not a bad foundation either.
Oh wow, really? I think the formula is really hydrating. But, I don’t live in a cold climate, so it might not be enough if I still lived in NJ.
I really liked this foundation! I wish it could accommodate more skin tones, but other than that I was really happy with it. I usually stick to BB creams, so this was a nice “step up” from that when I wanted a little more coverage.
The shade range is definitely tiny! It’s a nice formula though, definitely not as heavy as some of my others.
I love it! I wish Light was a little bit lighter and a bit less ivory, but it’s close enough to my skin tone. I love the feel of it on my skin, and it’s so easy to apply. I use a flat top kabuki too, but I’ve even applied it with my fingers and it’s great!
I do hope they expand their shade range, the ones they offer aren’t very universal. But, I agree the formula is fantastic!
That looks really great! This finish seems right up my alley. It looks very fresh.

I think you’d love it, it’s dewy and natural. It would look great on you!
This is just my type of foundation! I need this!
It’s a good one!
This looks perfect on you. The problem that I see is that most people aren’t going to buy two shades to get one they like. Their lightest shade is too dark for me but what I do is mix a white foundation with my PUR CC Cream to create the right shade. The white foundation is only $10 and can be used with anything making it more economical to mix.
You make good points, hopefully PUR extends their shade range!
This looks great on your skin! I’m still playing around with mine to get it right for my crazy skin. Pur is a fantastic brand and I’ll be interested to see who this appeals to the most.
I have dry skin, so this worked really nicely on me. I look forward to your review!
Omigosh it looks fabulous on you! I love how even yet light this foundation looks! And Tan actually looks like it would work with my complexion!
Thank you! I really love the finish, you’ll have to let me know if you pick up Tan!
This formula sounds amazing! i find their Light shade to be just a smidge too dark/yellow for me, but I might have to try this anyway.
I’m yellow toned, so it worked quite well, but it seems so many have the same issues with the light shade 🙁
I like this foundation, it’s lovely on my skin but the Light is too dark for me. *sad panda* I may pick up some Yabi Daisy or something similar to lighten it up so that I can use it.
Aw, boo! I keep hearing people say that. Maybe some custom cover drops can help?
I like this foundation i like how they have different complexions as well not many companies have that
This has a great hydrating formula!
Thank for sharing. I want to try this foundation out.
I hope you like it!
I typically dont wear foundation but I’m gonna have to check this out
It’s really light, and great for a natural looking finish!
I have been using the light shade pretty much non-stop
It’s a great formula!
My best friend has had lupis for over 25 years and has tried almost every form of cover for her redish skin, I am going to pass this on to her and pray it will help..thank you
I hope she likes it. It’s really gentle and light on the skin, so it shouldn’t cause any irritation!
