It’s no secret that the beauty industry has gone crazy for contouring. While it can look complicated and time consuming, achieving a sculpted look is actually easier (and faster) than you think. Although spending hundreds of dollars on products may work for some, those wanting to save some money can look no further than Maybelline for all their contouring needs!
FOUNDATION
The key to a great contour, is perfecting your base. For that, you’ll want to reach for a full coverage foundation with a soft matte finish, like the Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation. The formula offers beautiful coverage, and feels lightweight on the skin. It blends effortlessly with the Dream Velvet Blender (a latex-free reusable makeup sponge), and it lasts all day without fading.
After applying the Dream Velvet Foundation, I covered my dark under eyes (and any blemishes) with a full coverage concealer. Then, I set everything with a translucent powder. Once my complexion was perfected, I quickly filled in my brows, and created a soft bronzey eye. After I completed these steps, I was ready to get my contour on!
CONTOUR
It can be overwhelming searching for the perfect contour palette. There are tons of options, color choices, and formulas to choose from. However, the Maybelline Master Contour Palette has taken away all the guesswork. It includes a wearable mid-tone brown, a soft pink blush, and a stunning luminous highlight – all for less than $10!
To achieve my contour, I first applied the brown sculpting shade to the hollows of my cheeks using a small domed cheek brush. You’ll want to spend a little extra time blending, so it doesn’t appear too harsh or bold. However, the formula of this powder is really finely milled, so blending won’t take long.
Next, I applied the blush shade to the apples of my cheeks with a slanted blush brush. This powder has excellent pigmentation, so be sure to only apply a little and layer as needed to achieve your desired look. Finally, I highlighted the tops of my cheekbones, and the bridge of my nose with the highlight shade. The included brush that comes with this palette is perfect for this powder, as it’s small and won’t apply too much color.
The finished result is soft, sculpted, and glowing! With these three products, you’ll be on you way to mastering the art of contour, for less than $25 and 25 minutes. You can’t beat that!
FINAL LOOK
To complete my look, I reached for a Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color in 136 Constant Toast, then I quickly applied a makeup setting spray. Check out the final results below!
CREATE YOUR OWN LOOKS TO LOVE
The best part about this look, is you can find all of these products right at Walmart! Just look for the Maybelline end cap located in the beauty section (my store had it at the back of the aisle). The Dream Velvet Blenders are going fast though, so be sure to check out your local Walmart soon!
Have you tried any of these Maybelline products? If so, which ones are your favorites?
Beautiful! I was so interesting to see the steps you went through to get to your final look. The Maybelline Contour palette looks like an easy way to go!
It’s a great palette, not too dark, so it’s great for us paler gals!
A great and thorough post! Your skin looks beautiful! I have a naturally round face shape so contouring is a must for me!

So glad you liked it! 🙂
I just bought this foundation today, can’t wait to try it 🙂 The contour kit looks so pretty, it’s not available in UK yet but will keep an eye on it. You’ve created beautiful, naturally looking makeup look! x
Mummy’s Beauty Corner
The contour kit is great, I’m loving the brown shade. I’ve been reaching for it nearly everyday!
That little makeup sponge is so curious looking! I kind of like the idea of a sponge with a handle. What did you think? How did it compare to the beautyblender? I’m super impressed with the before/after of just the foundation alone, even before the contour palette. It really seemed to liven your skin up! You looked so fresh and awake!
Thank you! I’m really liking the foundation too! The sponge is adorable, and thought it applied my foundation nicely, but I do prefer my beautyblender for it’s texture.
I saw a review a few days ago on the palette and I thought about picking it up. I love how natural the look came out and I think I have to have it.
Thank you! The contour palette has great shades, not too dark so it’s easy to work with.
This is so natural on you that I wouldn’t have known you’d done contouring if you hadn’t mentioned it.
Thanks, Marcia! I don’t contour too heavily, because I prefer a more natural look 🙂
I can really see the change!! Thanks for sharing!! Great products that are reasonable too!
So glad you liked it! 🙂
I love your soft, glowing look! This is the kind of contouring palette I need in my life. The ones with too many shades just make it confusing for contouring newbies. This certainly takes the guesswork out of what goes where.
It’s a really great affordable option, I’ve been reaching for it over my Charlotte Tilbury one this week. The brown shades are similar!
I have the contour palette but haven’t dipped into it yet. The shades look perfect on you!
I can’t wait to see your review! The highlight is so pretty!
I’ve seen so many new products that I was waiting for some reviews to see which are worth picking up. This contour palette looks like a great choice, especially for the price!!
I think you’d like this one!
I am convinced, even w/o makeup you look flawless and pretty!
Aw, you’re seriously too kind! 🙂
I am really liking the foundation, after I finally was able to pick one in the correct shade (I always hate that part of trying a new foundation!) It feels wonderful on the skin. And, of course, the contour palette is fantastic 🙂
I had that issue too, and this one is way too light, but with the contour palette I was able to make it work!
wow! contouring brings out your pretty features even more 🙂
Aw, thanks so much!
What a lovely and affordable option! It looks gorgeous and so natural on you!
Thank you! I’m loving this palette!
I love the look of the palette and the beauty blender looks interesting! The foundation looks lovely on you too 🙂 xx
