Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator & Brush #23

in Face & Cheeks, Makeup on 10/05/15

Happy Monday! One of my favorite beauty brands is Anastasia Beverly Hills. Her eyeshadow palettes are creamy and pigmented, her liquid lipsticks are a joy to wear (review coming soon), and of course her brow products are iconic and well known amongst nearly all makeup lovers. So, when highlighters were added to the mix, I knew I had to get my hands on a few!

PURCHASED BY ME/AFFILIATE LINKS

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator

The new illuminators retail online for $28 (0.32 oz), and are available exclusively at Macys.com. Each highlighter contains a “mosaic of brightening powders, that impart a lit from within glow.” They come packaged in sturdy black compacts, complete with a large mirror. There are currently four shades to choose from, and today I’ve got two to talk about.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator

PEACH NECTAR

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Peach Nectar

This peachy highlight is described as warm rose gold that flatters light skin tones. It’s highly pigmented, easy to blend, and it has a super creamy texture. A tiny bit goes a long way, or if you prefer an intense glow, you can build it up without fear of it looking cakey. It doesn’t contain any obvious glitter or shimmer, but it’s still incredibly luminous.

However, because it’s so pigmented, I think it would work best on those with medium to dark skin. On my complexion (MAC NW20) it can appear more like a luminous blush, than a highlight. It’s gorgeous, I just have to be careful with how much I apply, otherwise I’m left with peach stripes on my cheekbones.

STARLIGHT

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Starlight

This pale highlight is described as a sheer luminescent white geared toward all skin tones. It has the same creamy texture as Peach Nectar, and it’s just as pigmented, and easy to work with. Although it looks quite intense in the pan, on the face it truly is a lit from within glow. It’s not frosty, shimmery, or glittery – it’s just illuminating. It’s my favorite of the two, and the one I highly suggest to all highlighter addicts!

BRUSH #23

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #23

The new brush #23, is round highlighter brush that has soft tapered natural hair bristles. It retails for $25, and is another Macy’s exclusive. It’s the perfect size for cheekbones, and it distributes product evenly. The bristles are dense enough for opaque application, but still soft enough for supreme blending.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #23

Prior to owning this, I used blush brushes or fan brushes for my highlighters. Application with those was okay, but I always wanted something smaller for my cheekbones. Enter the new #23 brush! As I already mentioned, this is the perfect size for highlighters, and it blends powder products beautifully. It has been the answer to my highlight frustrations!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator

If you’re in the market for a new highlight, I highly suggest the ones from Anastasia. The textures are smooth, the finish is gorgeous, and they leave an incredible glow on the skin. The #23 brush is just as impressive, and one that I suggest to all!

Have you tried these new illuminators? Which shades are your favorite?

Holy cow those are pigmented! Peach Nectar is stunning, but I think I’m way too pale to pull that off, and it seems too shimmery for a blush to me. Someone’s giving Becca a run for her money!

Peach Nectar is so pretty, but yes it’s veryyyy pigmented. I went to town with it, and I had very obvious peach streaks on my cheekbones haha

Starlight is my FAVE, I love it for strobing 🙂 I need to check out Macy’s for that brush I love brushes like that! I didn’t peach nectar because I have so many peach toned illuminators that end up being blush toppers heheh

      10/05/2015 at 4:23 PM

Yes, a blush topper! That’s the perfect way to describe Peach Nectar, I’ll have to try that!

Ugh, I hate when products are priced so differently depending where you are 🙁 If you can catch them on sale, I highly recommend them!

So so so so beautiful and tempting! I bought the rose gold Becca perfecter, and you’re definitely right that rose gold is too dark for fair/light skin so I haven’t used it much. Starlight would be perfect! And I like the looks of the #23 brush too

    • Collective Beauty says

      10/08/2015 at 12:43 PM

I also have that rose gold perfecter from Becca, and yeah it’s dark 🙁 Starlight would definitely be a good pick for you though!

NO!!!! I was so afraid to click on this post and read it because I knew they were going to be amazing! HA!!! Trying to not buy makeup at times is so difficult. #TheStruggleIsReal The Rose Gold is a bit too much for my complexion, but Starlight is something I need asap! Plus, that brush looks amazing and it’s so affordable! Thanks for such a great review!!!!

I saw them but wasn’t sure because I haven’t seen any swatches. As pretty as the Peach Nectar is, I realize that it is too much for my complexion and I would have to roll with the Starlight.

    • Collective Beauty says

      10/08/2015 at 12:46 PM

I know, Peach Nectar is SO pretty but I can’t believe they recommend it for light skin. It’s definitely made for those with medium to dark skin!

Oh my gosh are those gorgeous! I’m actually really digging Peach Nectar. I might have to add a few of these to my wishlist. I’ve seen a few floating around Instagram and they definitely caught my eye.

    • Collective Beauty says

I kinda do too, especially since I don’t have many Macy’s near me so I had to buy these online. At least they were worth it 😉

I’m really intrigued about the brush! I’ve been on the hunt for a good brush to apply highlighter with — fan brushes just aren’t cutting it for me. I’ll have to stop into my.local Macy’s and look at this one!

    • Collective Beauty says

      10/08/2015 at 12:47 PM

You’ll love this brush! It’s the perfect size for highlighters, and the brush hairs are so soft!

These are so beautiful! Starlight would be right up my alley and that brush looks amazing too. I normally use Real Techniques Setting brush for applying my highlighters and it works really well too.

    • Collective Beauty says

      10/08/2015 at 12:48 PM

Aren’t they stunning!? It was hard to stop at just two lol The brush is my new favorite tool!
