It’s time for another edition of Stash or Trash! In case you missed Part I, you can check that out here. In short, this is a series all about downsizing my makeup collection. Although I love buying new stuff, and trying all the latest products, having too much can be overwhelming. So, to save space I’m cleaning out my eyeshadow palettes. This isn’t easy, but it’s gotta be done 😉
STASH
Since my palette collection is shamefully large, I’m only going to talk about a few that I absolutely adore.
Wet n’ Wild Color Icon Trios in Sweet As Candy and Silent Treatment – I tend to focus on high end shadows, but these trios are so impressive! They cost about $3, and they are so creamy and pigmented. These shadows have a cult following in the beauty community, because they perform like a high end product, without the huge price tag.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette – This palette was love at first swatch. The color range is gorgeous, the price point is great (just $29), and they are some of the creamiest and pigmented shadows I own. I seriously hope ABH releases more collab palettes this year, because all of the ones last year were amazing. Even though you can no longer find this in stores, you can purchase single shadows and I’ve heard they are just as great!
Marc Jacobs The Tease Palette – You can read my full review here, but to sum it up these purple shadows are definitely worth the splurge. The sleek black packaging, and smooth shadows inside makes this a dream to use. My favorite shade is the vibrant grape purple, it’s stunning in the crease!
Too Faced Natural Eye Palette – I’ve talked about this palette many times, and recently mentioned it in my “signature look” FOTD. These shadows are pigmented, creamy, and so easy to blend. I hit pan on every shade in my last one, and at the rate I’m going I’ll be hitting pan on a few of these soon too. The newer palettes have slightly different shades, but I still highly recommend this!
YSL Ombres De Jour Palette – These shadows aren’t the greatest….but how I can get rid of something that is covered in pink rhinestones?! The shade selection in this quad is pretty unique, so although they require some work, I still reach for this from time to time.
Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes Palette – This has been a staple in my makeup bag for years, and is something I reached for almost exclusively while in college. The shadows are easy to use, and they create a natural look that’s perfect for day or night. The cream concealer inside is awful and dried up, but the shadows work great on the lids!
Just in case you’re curious about the other palettes I’m hanging on to, here’s a photo. No judgement… 😆
TRASH
theBalm Nude Tude Palette – I absolutely love this palette, but it’s so old that the shadows don’t apply the same anymore. I got a lot of use out of this, and I definitely plan to repurchase it, along with the Nude Dude palette, but since it’s old (and likely expired) it’s time to go.
LORAC SummerGLO Palette – The shade range in this palette is really pretty, but the pigmentation is really bad. LORAC usually delivers top notch shadows, so I was really bummed with this. I tried to make it work, but the dismal results are not worth the effort. Thankfully, I got this on Hautelook for $10 so it’s not a huge loss.
Maybelline The Nudes Palette – I was so excited to get my hands on this, and although the quality is pretty decent, I never reach for it. Since I own so many amazing neutral palettes, I just don’t have a need for this, but I do suggest it to drugstore beauty fans!
Wet n Wild Fergie Photo Focus Eyeshadow Set – The Urban Decay Electric palette really irritated my eyes, so when I saw this affordable set of vibrant shadows I jumped for joy. But, it’s been over a year since I bought this, and I’ve never used it or swatched it. To me, that’s a sign that I really don’t need it (or want it) so off it goes.
I’m not getting rid of a whole lot, but it does feel good to get rid of the excess. Plus, it make room for some newer stuff 😉 I’m still not done with my de-cluttering, so stay tuned for the next part featuring my foundation drawer!
Are you surprised by the palettes I’m trashing? Let me know what items you recently got rid of!

dang girl!!!! That’s a hefty collection you’ve got lol I’m not judging 🙂 I’m not as brave though and I really should do a little makeup clean up myself! (showing love from The Beauty Bloggers Society)

LOL I know, I have so much, yet I still want more…the struggle 😉 I love cleaning out my collection, it always feel so good to get rid of stuff that collects dust and never gets used. Thanks for stopping by, I left your blog some love too! 🙂
What an amazing collection! I think you got rid of the right ones 😉 I’ve never seen that Benefit Palette before, do they still make it?
Yep! And I think they put a plastic cover on the concealer now, to prevent it from drying up (it’s the Boi-ing concealer). It’s a great palette for a quick, get out the door in 5 min look!
I am probably the only person who doesn’t get the Wet’n’Wild hype. I had one palette from them, it was some kind of LE spring palette and it was just disappointing…Maybe the Color Icons really are better.
I have the Balm Nude Tude palette too but I hardly ever reach for it, thank you for reminding me about it! And the Maybelline palette- I actually really like it!

Oh wow, really? Was it the larger WnW palette? I had one of those and it was mehhh, but I do love these trios. I can’t wait to repurchase Nude Tude, it was one of my favs, I’m so sad it went bad!
What a great post! I had good luck with the Melrose palette from WnW I bought last summer. I wish I had the TF Natural Palette but I do own similar shades. I loved reading your review of theBalm NudeTude. I will definitely pick that one up!
I loveee Nude Tude, I wish this one hadn’t gotten all yucky and old. If only makeup lasted forever!, right?! 😉
How long did you have the Nude Tude before tossing it? Just trying to judge when it’s time to throw my powder eyeshadows out, since I’ve had some eyeshadows longer than the recommended 18 months and they’re still going strong!
I’ve had the Nude Tude since 2011 – so 4 years. If you look closely, Sultry has some odd coloring to it on the left side…it’s not supposed to be there, so this was way overdue to go in the trash. I keep powder shadows for about 3ish years. I think the timeline is 2-3.
Wow – so many palettes! I think I would be disappointed if I bought a YSL palette and the shadows weren’t great (at least the case is cute I guess!). I’m also surprised by the Lorac palette – those are usually claimed to be some of the best eyeshadows!

The YSL palette was a bit of a let down, so many people raved about the shadows that I was expecting more. WIth the amazing packaging, it seems more like a collectors item than anything else.
That is a whole lot of palettes. I totally agree with you the Wet-n-Wild palettes are AWESOME well the trios are. The Fergie quads have been a bit disppointing in pigment and staying power for sure. One of my favorite palettes to date made the good list- Too Faced Natural Eye. I am obsessed with that palette since it is so perfect for everyday! Great lists!
I know, I have so much…and I still have a wish list of others lol. Good to know about the Fergie shadows, I’m glad I didn’t bother to give this one a try then! 🙂
I love this post! I’m not currently de-cluttering, but I am in a use-it-up mode! I’ve been trying to use up all of my samples and reduce my stash. It’s actually fun seeing how many things I can finish!

I think it’s fun too, like a personal challenge to hit pan on everything lol. I have so many samples from Birchbox and Sample Society, sometimes I don’t even know where to start!
You are definitely about eye palettes but I am willing to give Maybelline palette a try since I love most of the colors for a bronze/neutral eye!!
It’s a great find for the drugstore, I love the color range, and if I didn’t already own a ton like it I would definitely use it more!
I was so scared when I first saw that your Nude’tude palette was in the “trash” part, lol! I love that palette and hope mine doesn’t dry out anytime soon (that’s strange that yours did?), though, I should admit that I only use like 3 shades out of the entire palette lol. My “Standoff-ish” looks very similar to yours. 🙂
Nude Tude was definitely hard to part with! Mine just…looked cruddy and didn’t apply the same. It’s really old though….like….5-6 years old status. You can tell on some shades, there’s like a discoloration to some. It wasn’t worth the possible eye infection, besides it means I can go shopping on the balms website haha 😉
Your collection is beautiful! It’s so hard letting go of product sometimes, good for you! I have the hardest time. 🙂

Thanks girl, It was definitely bittersweet. I always think “but what I want to use it one day” and then a year passes and I never touched it haha
I love palette so I don’t blame you for having a lot, your collection is amazing. It’s unfortunate that the Nude’Tude shadows don’t apply the same anymore… I know for sure I won’t be getting the Maybelline palette after this post since I know I won’t grab for it too. Thanks for sharing xx
xo Brigette
Yeah, the maybelline palette is nice, but it’s too similar and not as creamy as my other neutral palettes. I don’t blame you for skipping it!
I totally understand your love for eyeshadow palettes 🙂 I own more than I will ever need, haha! And I don’t think I’m ready to part with any of them yet, even though there are a few in my collection that I never reach for 🙂 x

The sad thing is, I have SO many more on my wish list! lol At least you all can relate to my obsession 😉
I loooove eyeshadow palettes. It’s not that I use them that much, but I just love how they look :-D. Your collection looks great btw!
I get sucked in by how they look too, which is how I wound up with so many lol 😉
The Marc Jacobs palette is stunning! Would be good to create Spring eye make-up looks with. Shame to hear about the Nude’Tude palette, hopefully you’re next one is better! Also, the Lorac palette has such bright, pretty colours, but it’s annoying about the pigmentation because their Pro palettes are meant to be good! x

The LORAC palette was definitely a bummer! Especially if you’re used to the amazing quality of the Pro shadows. I’s a shame they dropped the ball with this one because the shades are so pretty!
Bummer you have to toss the Nude Tude one, bet that hurt a little haha!
Oh yes, definitely! I’ll get a new one soon though, even though I don’t *need* it lol 😉
Those are some nice stashes! It’s a shame about that LORAC palette bc its pretty!
It was definitely a bummer, the shade range is gorgeous. I’m hoping they reformulate it!
I absolutely LOVE the Wet ‘n Wild trios — so amazing for $3 but I’d pay much more for them!
Totally agree! I’ve tried so many drugstore shadows that were dry and chalky, WnW is definitely some of the best in that price range!
I love a good declutter post! I’ve been thinking of doing this myself since I have so many things that I don’t reach for but just have clanging around in the drawers. I agree – the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette is SO good; beautiful pigment and great for any occasion! I’d recommend that palette to anyone with eyes, lol! 🙂
