Hi again, beauties! I’m kicking off the week with a review of the new NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. Since their Sheer Glow formula is loved by so many, the beauty community went a little crazy over this new release. Want to know if I think it’s worth the hype? Keep on reading!
This oil-free foundation retails for $48 (1 oz) and comes housed in a gorgeous glass bottle with… *drumroll please*…a PUMP! Yes, it seems NARS has finally heard our cries! 😆
As far as shades go, they differ slightly from the Sheer Glow range, so I suggest color matching yourself in person. For example: In Sheer Glow I’m the shade Fiji, but in this formula I am Santa Fe (medium 2).
Aside from the pump, what makes this foundation special are the claims that it can deliver full natural looking coverage with just one pump. Another bold claim, it’s also supposed to last 16 hours. So, does it really deliver? Yes and no.
MY EXPERIENCE
I need way more than one pump for my entire face, so that claim doesn’t hold true for me. But, I do agree about the finish. It’s natural looking, yet also full coverage. I haven’t tested it out for 16 hours, and I probably never will, but I can say it holds up very nicely in the 8 hour range as long as I set it with a powder. If I don’t set it, my face looks a bit too “luminous” at the end of the day.
APPLICATION
This is a really liquidy and fast drying formula, so it’s best to work in sections. I like to add one pump to half of my face, blend, then apply a second pump to the other half of my face. If I have any pesky blemishes to cover, I’ll add another half pump to those areas. It applies nicely with both a Beauty Blender and a synthetic foundation brush, though it can look cakey with a brush if you’re not careful.
WORTH THE HYPE?
Yes! But only for certain skin types. I have dry/normal skin and this works really well on me. The finish is natural and dewy, and I use far less concealer because the coverage is so full. However, it can look a bit greasy at the end of the day, which would be a disaster for those with oily skin types. It’s hard to tell in these photos, but in person the finish is pretty luminous so it can enhance an already shiny complexion. This fast drying formula can also cling to dry patches, so proper hydration before application is a must!
If you’re in the market for a new foundation, and you don’t suffer from overly oily or dry skin, I suggest looking into this. It covers well, the texture is smooth and it applies like a breeze. It’s also clinically proven to uphold in humidity (something this Florida gal definitely needs!) and it’s proven to improve skins clarity within four weeks. It’s available at Sephora, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and online here!
Have you tried the new NARS foundation? Let me know what your thoughts are!
All items mentioned in this post were purchased by me.
This looks great on you and I’ve been curious about it, BUT I didn’t make the purchase because I had a feeling this wouldn’t work so well on oily skin types. BUMMER! It would work ok for me now, but not for long! Loving that they finally added a pump! About time!
Sadly, I just don’t think it would hold up on oily skin types 🙁 It claims it’s great for everyone, but if it can make my dry/normal skin look oily than I’d be worried about those with oily/combo skin. Bummer!
I WAS interested in trying this, but I do have oily skin, so I might skip it. Thanks for your review and it looks lovely on you!
Glad you liked it! I would definitely get a sample at Sephora if you have oily skin. It claims it’s great for everyone, but my skin is on the dry side and it even made me look a bit too dewy!
Wow it looks amazing on you really flawless and plenty of pigmentation 🙂 I have heard great things about it but is it really worth the money? have your tried their concealer yet? http://ninasbargainbeauty.blogspot.com
I think if you have the right skin type (i.e. not too finicky) then this is definitely worth the money! But, I can see it being problematic for oilier skin types. I have their Radiant Creamy Concealer and LOVE it. It covers so nicely and it never ceases on me!
This foundation looks great on you, but I don’t think it would work so well with my combination skin. Do they have shades that have pink/cooler undertones? This one seems to go a bit yellow/warm.
I have heard that most shades in this range do pull a tad bit yellow, which thankfully works for my undertones, but if you’re pink I would go to Sephora to get some samples to see if you can find a good match! 🙂
I definitely need to try this foundation, it looks lovely on you. I just got a sample of the new Dior Air Serum foundation and I like it so much that I don’t know if Nars will be able to beat that one.
Ooh, I haven’t tried a Dior foundation in years! This one is really nice, but I’m curious to see how it holds up in the Florida humidity this summer.
I really need to try some NARS foundations soon. I love the concealer, so I have high hope for the others. Not sure what to try first!
I love their Sheer Glow foundation, it’s creamy and hydrating and gives medium coverage without looking cakey! This one is nice too, but I can see it being problematic for those with super oily or super dry skin.
oh wow, it looks amazing and glowing! im torn as i do have oily skin
I have heard some with oily skin say they love it, though i would think it would be a little too luminous. You should get some samples if you can, just to try it out first! 🙂
I absolutely love this foundation! I am so glad they finally included a pump, no more messes from pouring too much foundation out 🙂 I also have dry skin and I find that it gives me a beautiful dewy glow.
The pump is glorious! lol It definitely gives a great glow, and the finish is so natural!
It does look amazing on you but I worry it wouldn’t work with my oily combination skin x
If you can get some samples I would suggest doing that, it’s quite expensive and because it’s a luminous finish it might not work well with your skin type. The coverage is lovely though! 🙂
It looks beautiful on you! I’m so surprised that it’s full coverage. Hmmm, now you’ve got my attention!
Since the texture is so thin and runny I was surprised by the coverage as well, but wow I hardly needed any concealer! 😀
I love NARS, but surprisingly I’ve never tried their foundations – just tinted moisturizers. I’ll have to check this out.
I’m the opposite, I’ve only tried their foundations and not their tinted moisturizers! lol I have heard get things about them though, so I think that’s on my list to try next!
first of all, stunning packaging and thank god for the pump!! I have never tried a NARS foundation because they are out of my budget and this isn’t really for my skin type, but looks great on you!!! loved to read the review!
So happy you enjoyed it! 🙂 They are definitely pricey, so I only splurge every so often!
I’m still trying to figure out if I like this, but two thumbs up for the pump!
Now if only they would repackage all their other foundations to include a pump! I *think* I still prefer my Sheer Glow to this….
You are one stunning lady!
I have tried the Sheer Glow foundation and fell in love so may look in to this! xxx
Aw, thank you! 🙂 Sheer Glow is still my top favorite, but this one is definitely a great addition to my collection!
Your skin looks amazing even with out the foundation! I think I’ll pass on this because I have oily skin and also I have too many foundations at the moment, which I need to use up before I get any new ones. Great review! xx

Thank you! It’s hard to tell in photos, but I do have some hyper pigmentation from past blemishes. This covers them right up thankfully! 😉
I haven’t tried this foundation from NARS yet. But I love Sheer Glow. Not sure I’ll like this, it seems like it would be too dry for my skin.
My skin can be really dry in the winter, and I can see this sticking to dry patches since it’s so fast drying. I would probably stick with Sheer Glow! 🙂
Gosh! I just love your reviews and since we have pretty much the same skin type, I especially like hearing about your experiences with face products. As much as I want to try this, I’ll probably stick to what I’m using right now since it works so well for me but I’m definitely keeping this in mind for the future. 🙂
So glad you liked my review! I don’t blame you for sticking with what you’ve got already, this is a great foundation, but I can see it being problematic once summer rolls around. It says it’s clinically proven to uphold in humidity, but I live in south florida where it feels like the surface of the sun in August haha so we shall see 😉
I’m torn – since it takes so many pumps and is on the pricier side, I’m not sure if it would end up being worth it for me. But I am definitely loving that there is at least a pump! SUCH a more hassle-free approach. Thank you, Nars.

I think 2-3 pumps is still pretty good, but I agree the price is a bit steep. That’s NARS for ya 😉 If they didn’t charge so much, I’d probably own everything they make haha
Yeah oops, right there with ya sistah
Thanks for the review, I’m dying to try this one out!!!! I’m going to get it very soon.
I hope you like it as much as I do! 🙂
Thanks for the thorough review. I’ll probably pass on this as I do have oily skin.
Very good review. I have never tried NARS foundation. I have tried their liquid bronzer and it is one of my favorite products, also bring the dewyness I need since I have dry skin!
I actually have never tried their liquid bronzer, I’ll have to look for it the next time I’m in Sephora!
Just thought about it – the product is their liquid highlighter – I used it as a bronzer however and LOVE it!
Excellent review! I’m dying to try this..but the reviews have been pretty mixed! People either seem to LOVE it or HATE it with a passion! It’s a little bit of a shame that they discontinued Sheer Matte, I quite liked that foundation!
I think I’m going to see if I can pick up a sample of this to try before I invest in a bottle. Gorgeous photos, by the way, you look beautiful.
This sounds fab and it looks amazing on your skin, you look so glowy and healthy!! My skin is super oily though so it sounds like it wouldn’t suit me so well 🙁

I have dry skin too and I really want to try this! xx
