Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette Palette: Swatches & First Impressions!

in Eyes, Makeup on 03/02/15

Happy Monday! Can you believe it’s already March?! In just 10 days my daughter will be two…excuse me while I go cry  😥 Not only because she’s getting so big, but also because we’re now in the lovely stage called “terrible twos,” wish me luck! Anyway, today’s post features a palette that I have been eyeing since the moment it was released. I’m a little late to the game with this one, but I just had to talk about these buttery smooth shadows before they are gone for good!

PURCHASED BY ME/AFFILIATE LINKS

Tarte Tartelette Palette

This limited edition all-matte palette retails for $44 and can be found at ULTA, Sephora, and online here. Included, are twelve brand-new neutral shades that range in tone from warm to cool (though most are pretty warm), and a step-by-step instructional card to help you create the perfect look.

The concept behind this palette is to empower and celebrate real women, which can be seen in the shade names that are conveniently written under each shadow – no flimsy clear cover to worry about, hooray!

The first row features four warm toned shades: Free Spirit (cream), Force of Nature (nude), Dreamer (warm brown) and Multi-tasker (chocolate). Each shadow has wonderful pigmentation and a buttery smooth texture.

The second row features four beautiful purple/pink toned shades: Caregiver (pale pink), Natural Beauty (mauve), Best Friend (mulberry), and Bombshell (dark plum). Again, each one has a smooth texture and wonderful color payoff, and even though they are soft they produced little kick up.

The last row leans more cool and features: Super Mom (ivory), Wanderer (light brown), Power Player (taupe), and Fashionista (black). The reason I caved and bought this palette is all because of Fashionista,  it was love at first swatch! It has the most amazing texture and the color payoff is really intense. As for the other three, they are just as smooth and pigmented as the others, and such a breeze to swatch.

At first I wasn’t sure I needed this palette, and believe me I tried my hardest to avoid it, but swatching it in person convinced me that this was too good to pass up.  If you’re in the market for an everyday palette that is both work and party appropriate, I highly suggest getting your hands on this. It’s already sold out on tarte’s website, but you can still find it online at ULTA and Sephora.

*Even if you own last year’s Be MATTEnificent palette, I still recommend this. The shade range differs greatly, and you are able to achieve many more looks with this one!*

What do you think of this palette? Would you buy it? Let me know!

I think I talked to you about this before, but this palette has been on my radar for quite some time. I picked it up once in Sephora and walked out without it, but I think I really might as well just go and get it because I love it! It’s such a gorgeous palette!

I was the same way with this! I had it in my online cart so many times, then last minute I would decide against it. But, swatching that black shade in person I think my eyes bugged out of my head haha The texture is so great, I knew I’d get a lot of use of it! 🙂

I know right, I hate those clear covers! And thank you, I’ve been working to improve my photos and get the lighting right. Who knew it could be such a process!? lol

It really is a process!! I am trying to get mine just right too.

This palette looks great! It’s so hard to find good matte shades, but I feel like Tarte has it down! I got my mother their LE Christmas set (with the eyeshadow palette) last year and every time I see her use it, I kind of regret not getting one for myself!

    • Collective Beauty says

      03/02/2015 at 3:39 PM

They have definitely nailed matte shadows! LORAC is another brand that has exceptional matte shades, though I think the Tarte ones have a slight edge since they are free of parabens, phthalates, and all that other junk!

I just want this. Period. The end. But I bought the matte palette last year, and I feel that though they’re different they’re too similar for me to justify buying another one right now. But I wish I could

I understand! I felt the same way at first, but I don’t own too many matte browns so I think I’ll get a lot of use out of this! 🙂

awwww. My oldest will be 10 in June and I remember the day he turned 2 like it was yesterday. He is my little baby and will always be that little baby! I really like this palette and I thought I didn’t need it either. I guess that rationale just won’t work. I love tarte matte shadows and all of these in 1 palette, I think I need to spring!

    • Collective Beauty says

      03/02/2015 at 4:32 PM

Aw, I know she’ll be 10 before I know it so I’m savoring every second of her this age (except for the tantrums, those can go haha). Tarte has really got their matte shadow formulation down, the quality of these is fantastic. I wish it wasn’t LE!

You show off the best eyeshadows! This palette looks gorgeous. I’ve got to say, I’m kind of dying over Bombshell… Maybe Tarte will release it as a single…

*Fingers crossed!* I do wish they made these shadows permanent, they would be great edition to their lineup!

I want to try this palette so bad. I have my $10 off birthday coupon from Ulta. I might have to snatch this.

Definitely use that coupon, its a great value already but even better with $10 off! 😀

In my experience the “three” years were worse than the two’s! LOL I love the shade names in this palette!! People always get excited about good quality black shadows, but I am terrible at eye makeup and would have no idea how it use it haha.

      03/03/2015 at 10:14 AM

Terrible 3’s, I have definitely heard that before! This mama will be need a big drink by the time the toddler years are over with…then we have the teenage years, oh boy! LOL The key with blacks is to start slow, but don’t worry we’ve all made a raccoon eye mistake before! 😉

I’ve never had someone make me want so many palettes! And I don’t even wear eyeshadow very often (mostly because I prefer sleep over eyeshadow, haha!) Yet, you keep convincing me I need more!

    • Collective Beauty says

      03/06/2015 at 9:01 PM

    • Collective Beauty says

      03/06/2015 at 9:02 PM

I agree! Plus, the way they set it up makes it so you don’t even have to be creative to make a great look. For my FOTD I just followed along with the second row, it’s genius for those lazy days when I lack creativity! 🙂

    03/04/2015 at 6:23 PM

OH MY WORD! Your pictures are SO gorgeous and make me want this palette even more!! 😀 I’ve been on the fence about this one! I really want it….but have so many matte palettes already….but my favorite eyeshadows are matte….but….and I just keep going back and forth! 😛

I’m glad to see that the swatches show up so well. It looks like the shadows are pretty buttery and pigmentation — those are two MUSTS when I’m looking for new eyeshadows. Do you know if this is a limited edition palette? Or is it a part of their permanent line?

    • Collective Beauty says

      03/06/2015 at 9:04 PM

I was the SAME way!! I kept going back and forth, but I finally swatched it in person, and I was blown away. They are so buttery, and not at all powdery or chalky. Tarte really knows how to make a matte shadow! This is LE sadly, so I say get it before it’s gone! 🙂

      • Katie Garvin says

        03/07/2015 at 9:37 PM

Oh, yikes! Hearing you say it’s LE decided it for me — I better snag it in my next Ulta order! 😀

    03/05/2015 at 4:18 PM

Ha, I have been trying to convince myself I don’t need this palette either…But every time I go to Ulta and swatch it and I am in love. I am still holding strong and resisting the temptation though since I have so many eyeshadow palettes…I’d love to see some looks with this palette!

You have more will power than me! i took one swatch and ran to the register without even thinking *hangs my head in shame* haha 😉
